Details:

New holland TN70 da 70 horsepower air conditioned cab tractor. I would typically throw the charger on battery for a few minutes and then fire it up take off.

There are no issues with this tractor. I was told it the supervisors and used for trim out yard work.

I purchased this particular tractor because, while it was equipped like the rest, with limb risers and cab protector, not beat up but rather exceptionally clean 304 hours. The main grounding attachment point was not cleaned back to bare metal after paint and caused a poor system ground.

I went ahead and changed all the filters fluids, as did each year, thinking it may have air in hydraulics. This allows shifting from forward to reverse, within ranges, without using the clutch, helping eliminate costly repairs. It just acted like the hydro static drive was not being allowed to engage.

We just don't use it enough. It is easy to operate with a clean comfortable cab and the same type modern transmission used by other major manufacturers like john Deere, case OH, etc 4 speeds, a, b, c ranges, hydro static shuttle shift. After purchasing this tractor I was stationed overseas and the sat for months at a time. The dealer first checked entire wiring harness, ecm, and grounding system.

The tractor never reached an oil or filter change hour interval, so I usually just did this annually to eliminate any risk of water contamination element breakdown. With a little spit and polish it could easily be made to look smell like brand new again. Replacement cost for tractors like this are 30k. Apparently, when I connected the 200 battery charger to boost system it caused an over current in ecm.

Turns out it was a simple problem. The mechanic cleaned and corrected bad connection, installed a new battery, factory remanufactured ecm, checked all entire hydraulic drive system including pressures, tested clutch pack to make sure it was set correct tolerances serviced unit. It is arguably one of the best tractors new holland has built as can be seen in many reviews posted to online forums. The battery had a tendency to discharge during storage apparently due small current draw.
